Volunteer Opportunities At Floyd Bennett Field
The Friends of Gateway, a non-profit organization that conducts projects and programs with the National Parks Service, is offering several volunteer opportunities for adults.
There are openings for those interested in working with either school children or disabled adults, and teaching them how to grow plants in the Floyd Bennett Greenhouse.
Other volunteer jobs available to retired adults include maintenance of tools and machines in the Floyd Bennett workshop, and the rehabilitation of the buildings on premises.
Friends of Gateway (FoG) is dedicated to protecting, improving and enhancing public awareness of the New York metropolitan area’s unique park areas.
The Gateway Greenhouse Education Center at Floyd Bennett Field is a volunteer program to prepare trees, shrubs, and plants for public use in city spaces.
They provide educational experiences to thousands of children and adults concerning plant life in urban conditions.
