William J. Gormley Native Of Rockaway Beach

  • William J. Gormley, a native of Rockaway Beach, died September 3.
  • Gormley, a member of the IBEW Local 3, was also a decorated World War II Navy Aviation veteran.

    He was preceded in death by his siblings, Kathleen, Edward, James, John and Victoria.

    He is survived by his wife, Kay; sons, Bill (Vikki), and Richard (Christine); daughter, Joanne (the late Philip Dougherty); eight grandchildren; and brother, Robert of Breezy Point.

    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home in Babylon. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Babylon.

    Richard F. Hendrickson

    Chief Locksmith

    Richard F. Hendrickson, a Rockaway resident for 27 years, died September 2. He was 76.

    Hendrickson, a chief locksmith, was born on June 17, 1929 in the Bronx. He served in the Army from 1951-1957.

    He is preceded in death by his son, Richard O’Hanlon.

    He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Peter O’Hanlon and Michael O’Hanlon (Cathie); daughters, Maureen and Margaret O’Hanlon; brother, Jerome Hendrickson (Millie); sister, Marilyn Hoey; and grandchildren, Eugene, Michael and Richard O’Hanlon.

    Funeral arrangements were made by the Denis S. O’Conor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment was at St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village.

    Lassell L. Holliday

    OTB Computer Operator

    Lassell L Holliday, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died September 3. He was 23.

    Holliday, an OTB computer operator, was born on February 13, 1982 in Far Rockaway. He was also a member of the Falcons Football Club, and a substitute teacher’s aid and child care provider at Lucille Rose Daycare Center.

    He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Riddick; father, Lewis Holliday; brother, Jamel Holliday; sister, Jasmine Holliday; grandmothers, Aamina B. Akhtar and Nora Holliday; great-grandmother, Mary Holmes; many cousins, including Robert Sanders Jr.; aunts, Marcella Sanders, Evelyn Gaylord, Tasha Riddick, Diane Holliday, Renita Holliday and Michelle Portalatin; uncles, Kerby E. Riddick, Christopher Holliday, Gregory Holliday, and Timothy Holliday; niece, Xaviah Holliday; and a host of friends and family.

    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Conor Funeral Home, where services were held.

    Madeline G. Kelly

    Homemaker

    Madeline G. Kelly, a Rockaway resident for 45 years, died on September 3.

    Kelly, a homemaker, was a member of St. Camillus Parish.

    She is preceded in death be her husband, John F. Kelly.

    She is survived by her sons, Robert Grassi and John Kelly; daughters, Maureen Gallagher, JoAnn Arcario, Debra Pollard, and Patricia Fullam; grandchildren, Robert and Gregory Grassi, Joseph, Sarah and Shannon Kelly, Fred Grey, Michael and Matthew Arcario, Brian, James and Jacqueline Pollard, and Kelly, Caroline and Emmh Fullam.

    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Conor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Camillus Church. Interment was at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Lawrence.

    Iris Amanda Nelson

    Businesswoman/Evangelist

    Iris Amanda Nelson, a Rockaway resident for 45 years, died on August 30. She was 80.

    Nelson, a businesswoman and evangelist, was born on May 27, 1925 in St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies. She was a member of the Evangelist Free Hill Pentecostal Church.

    She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth; children, Angela, Errol, Stafford, Lorna, Ken, Cliff, Delores, Lolleita, Norman and Annmarie; brothers, sisters, 39 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

    Funeral arrangements were made by the Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel. A service was held at the Calvary Tabernacle in St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica, West Indies. Interment was at the Calvary Tabernacle in St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica, West Indies.

    Steven John Senyk

    Welder

    Steven John Senyk, a lifelong resident of Far Rockaway, died August 25. He was 42.

    Senyk, who worked as a welder, was born on October 4, 1962.

    He is survived by his father, Charles; mother, Elizabeth; sisters, Jane Senyk, Karen (Benjamin) Marcune; brother, Andrew (Jennifer); and two nieces, Victoria Marcune and Danielle Senyk.

    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Meserole Funeral Home in Inwood. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. Interment was at Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead.

    Gary Liverman

    Shipping Clerk

    Gary Liverman, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died on August 30. He was 43.

    Liverman, a shipping clerk, was born on January 30, 1962 in Manhattan. He was a member of Revelation Church of Jesus Christ and I Am The Way Church.

    He is preceded in death by his brother, William Liverman.

    He is survived by his mother, Annie Marie Liverman; father, Dennis Ray Liverman; daughter, Tanezia Liverman; sisters, Diane McGill, Denise Ankum, and Renee Moore; brothers, Dennis Liverman, Clarence Liverman, Michael Liverman, and Eddie Moore; sister-in-law, Dawn Marie Liverman; and other family members and friends.

    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home with a service at Gaffney’s Friendship Chapel. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery in Great Neck.

    Linda Christine Shaver

    Homemaker

    Linda Christine Shaver, a Rockaway resident for over 50 years, died on September 1. She was 97.

    Shaver, a homemaker, was born on February 6, 1908 in Greenville, Grenada.

    She is preceded in death by her son, Mingo Shaver.

    She is survived by daughter-in-law, Susan Shaver; grandchildren, Christine Shaver, Mingo Shaver, Jr., and Michael Shaver; great-grandchildren, Zion Roberts, Noah Roberts and Jahlani Shaver; and her friends.

    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home. Disposition was at the Oxford Hills Crematory in Chester.
