RDRC Hosts Annual Golf Tournament

Imagine the opportunity to win $1,000,000 for making a hole-in-one. No, it’s not a reality television show, it’s the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation’s Third Annual Golf Tournament. The event will be held on Monday, September 12. The tournament, which is being held at Inwood Country Club in Inwood, will feature the JetBlue Challenge, along with a 150-yard Shoot-Out resulting in the $1,000,000 prize.

A hole-in-one on any of the par three’s, wins a five day, four night golf vacation package for two to any of the four JetBlue Challenge resorts, accompanied with airfare provided, of course, by JetBlue airways.

Par three winners get to participate in the 150-yard Shoot-Out. The person who makes a hole-in-one here becomes a millionaire. In addition to the $1,000,000 prize and JetBlue challenge there will be other festivities such as an awards dinner, a sports memorabilia auction, raffles and much more.

The Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation is a not-for-profit development, which was organized in 1978 by community residents and business leaders to build up the community of Rockaway, and, according to a press release help its residents obtain a “quality of life.”

RDRC’s Executive Director Curtis Archer, says that “being a sponsor, reserving a foursome, buying a tee sign are a few ways you can demonstrate your support for RDRC’s Beacon Program and Rockaway’s youth.”

The proceeds of this tournament will benefit RDRC’s Beacon Program, a school based center funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). It services over 1,800 youths and adults by delivering free recreational, educational and social programs.
