Arverne Man Sentenced For Killing Ex’s Boyfriend
An Arverne man was sentenced to 17 ½-years-to-life in prison for the October 2003 murder of his ex-girlfriend new beau, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced.
Sean Harris, 37, pleaded guilty on August 15 to murder in the second degree before Queens Supreme Court Justice Robert J. Hanophy. Harris, a maintenance worker, lived at 54-30 Beach Channel Drive.
Harris admitted that on October 25, 2003, at about 1:40 a.m. he fired a loaded .38 caliber revolver twice, fatally shooting Michael McCoy, 36, in the chest. The murder took place inside the defendant’s ex-girlfriend’s Ravenswood Housing Development.
“The defendant acknowledged that he was responsible for violently taking the life of a 36-year-old man. The imposed prison sentence reflects the gravity of his offense,” said Brown.
