Broad Channel Labor Day Parade, Mardi Gras Big Hits
The Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department hosted the community’s annual Labor Day Parade and Mardi Gras this year, with record crowds and a record amount of money raised for the volies. The parade was used to show off the department’s new ladder truck. This is the department’s 100th anniversary year.Officers from the BCVFD led the parade.The Prince-Wynn Post of the American Legion provided the color guard.Future space pilots on parade.
The Grassy Point Bar won this year’s contest, raising more than $17,000 for the volies. Lots of kids took part in the family parade.
These M & M’s were cute, but not edible.
6One of the themed floats was dedicated to “The Greatest Show On Earth.”These teenagers brought up the rear of the parade, collecting money for hurricane relief in Louisiana and Mississippi.Small Town USA was the theme of this float.
Some “Wild West” adults had a good time at the parade.
