Cops Recover Cocaine, Marijuana In Search
A Rockaway Park woman landed behind bars last weekend after police searched her home and found cocaine and marijuana, police said.
Officers searched the apartment of Debra Durant, 45, last Saturday morning and recovered nine baggies of cocaine and a marijuana cigarette, according to allegations contained in court records.
The drugs were found in the kitchen of Durant’s apartment at 159 Beach 119 Street, where she lives with her son, Eddie, who was also arrested.
The cocaine, police said, was tucked inside an envelope addressed to Durant.
Queens Criminal Court Judge Stephen Zayas issued police from the 100 Precinct a warrant to search Durant’s apartment.
Durant is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. She was released on her own recognizance after her arraignment on August 20, according to a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.
She is due back in court on October 6.
Durant’s son, Eddie, was not charged in connection with the incident, according to the district attorney’s spokeswoman.
