Castles In The Air

You have heard of building “Castles in the Air,” but this castle is right down to earth in Huntington L.I. And, it made the most exquisite site for a wedding. In fact the guests are calling it, “The Wedding of the Year,” when Aliza Sibel Kutlay, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Osman Kutlay, and Mr. Mathew Tuttle took their marriage vows on July 22nd of this year at Oheka Castle. The bride looked like a dream. Kutlay’s sister Suzan Bracken was the Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were: Leyla, Sahin and Alexandra Ghamar, Grace Sanacore and Criskiane Cornnro Shea. Flower girls: Lauren Tuttle, Gabrella Tuttle and Olivia Brecken. Among the guests were: Suzan’s husband, Lenny Bracken (with their daughter,

Olivia Bracken), Jane Haltzer, Karen and Harvcy Elgart, Sally Gwirtzman, Lucille and Manny Schacher, Janet Shirin and George Melkumov. Wishes for a happy, prosperous and long life together.

Came upon some of my old friends at the Surf Club: Ellen and Lenny Wunder and Lenny’s grandson, Ryan. He is a lifeguard at the Silver Gull for the summer before he goes back to Xavier to finish his courses. His other grandson Carl Wunder keeps them wondering; is there a love merger with Megan?

Pete Maloney and Jim Brady meet every Tuesday at the Point Breeze Club House at 12:30pm (all 25 and over are welcome). Ann Verderosa looks wonderful and she is still a wiz on the Bocci Court. Her daughter, Kathleen, was enjoying the day with her. Sueann and Henry Haesloop and mother, Pat Luderman, John and Claire Hughes; Pat and Jimmy Doyle with their son Brian. He is home from Iraq and is a firefighter now with Red Hook Engine #202. Good Luck to you, Brian! Winnie Kelleps told me Tom Murray was 90 and was at the 80 year- old party.

Ran into Jo Jo, one of Maryellen Barnes’ daughters and she reminded me of the Teen Show Aug. 15th thru the 18th at the Colony Theatre. Colleen, her sister, is working with her mother, but she is has a big job on Nickelodeon...

There was a Kiddie Show on Fulton Walk with Eddie Carroll as emcee and he broke everyone up, so I heard. Jane Healy teaches the deaf in Astoria, Queens.

Gladys Crowley is another year older on, August 16th. Happy Birthday, Gladys.

Did you ever stop into the Breezy Point Surf Shop? Really, you must do so. You do not have to go off the premises for any of your sun needs. Sizes from tots up to mature wear. What a selection he has. From X-cel Hawaiian shirts to flip flops (with built in bottle cap openers), skateboards, boogie boards, surf boards, waterproof cameras that are reusable and, a special price on wet suits. And so close at hand. But, for those in Neponsit and Belle Harbor and Rockaway, you can obtain a pass to shop at the Surf Shop. And, it is worth the short trip.

The Jewelry Show was most interesting at the Javit’s Center. The award winners were guests on my show on WNYX this week. And, if you have trouble getting the channels 26 and 35 on your set, you can see it on the web at www.newyorkers.com.

Have you ever been to a vegetarian restaurant? I had the pleasure last week, at the ZEN ZEN at Union Square at East 15 St. It was marvelous! I never knew veggies could taste so good. The seasonings were great and the presentations were beautiful. Go try it, you will like it. It is very tasteful and good for you. .
