Ringgold Aims To Take Back Arm Wrestling Title

Hundreds of men and women will be flexing their muscles in order to qualify for the year-end Empire State Wrestling Finals. The New York Arm Wrestling Association is having their 28th Annual White Castle Queensboro’ Arm Wrestling Championships on Sunday, August 14 on the boardwalk at 116 th street and Rockaway Beach. Registration and weigh-in beings at 10 a.m., start time is 12:30 p.m. and final matches start at 3 p.m.

The entry fee is $10 for NYAWA members and $15 for non-members but admission is free.

Rockaway’s Sean Ringgold aka “The Rockaway Flash” will try to prevent last year’s champ, Shaun Freeman, from repeating as the Empire State Champion.

“Freeman got lucky at the Empire State Championship last year, but the last time we met in Rockaway, I beat him!,” Ringgold said.

“This is a new ballgame and I have the fans and home team advantage.”

The competition will feature weight classes for both men and women and awards will be given for first, second, and third place. Winners are invited to the Empire State Finals on November 17, 2005 at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The competition is being sponsored by White Castle.
