Breezy Point Partee Golf News

By Doris Neimeth

As Peg Ansbro wrote last week a quote from Dave Berry “the worse part of playing golf for me by far, has been hitting the ball”.  Well for me the worse part is playing golf in the intense HEAT.  Only Twenty-three ladies braved the weather conditions August 4 at Riis Park.

Reminder to bring your check for $25.00 made out to Par Tee Golf for our end of the year luncheon at the Beach Club Sept. 8, give to Joan McNally and state who you wish to share a table with.  When paying for your golf game at Riis, please try to bring the exact amount ($7.50), NO bills over $10.00.  Low Gross winner was Peg Ansbro-64 and Low Net winner was Nancy Heffernan-66.  Ruth Galligan was our only winner for a chip-in, she also was closest to the pin on # 1, 4’ 6” with a score of 76.

Doris Neimeth won closest to the pin on # 18, 1’ 2” and had a score of 68, Joan McNally also scored a 68 and had a birdie on # 2, Pan Armour-69, Meg Ferrick-70 with a birdie on # 10, Kay Miller-78, Honey Ryan-79.  Lunch after play was held at the Catholic Club and we give thanks to Peggy Hurley for picking up the goodies at our local store.

Do hope some of our veteran players will have the opportunity to team up with some of our new members as I did last week, her name is Lorraine Pierson and a delight to golf with.  Tournament dates are August 25th and continue to the following week, Sept. 1. If you can only play one of these days that is acceptable and if you play both days the improved score is counted. Good Luck in the tournament and lets hope for cooler weather.
