Police this week recovered a modified weapon, ammunition and drugs when they executed a search warrant at an apartment in the Hammel Houses, law enforcement sources said.

Police from the 100 Precinct searched apartment 2D at 82-02 Rockaway Beach Boulevard on Wednesday morning and recovered a sawed-off Mossberg pump shotgun with a 16-inch barrel, 11 glassine envelopes containing cocaine and a small amount of marijuana, according to law enforcement sources.

Also recovered were two shotgun rounds, about 80 other rounds of ammunition of various caliber, eight firearm magazines and four large resealable plastic bags containing glassine envelopes – commonly used for the storage and sale of narcotics.

The occupants of the apartment, Duquan Coles, 24, and Shartice Law, 20, were arrested and charged with controlled substance, weapons, ammunition and drug paraphernalia charges, according to a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.

It was unclear if Coles, who lives in the unit that was searched and Law, whose address is 82-03 Beach Channel Drive – another Hammels building.

The search warrant was signed by Queens Criminal Court Judge Stephen Paynter on August 9.
