Mary Annorelli Homemaker
Mary Annorelli, a resident of Rockaway for more than 70 years, died August 2. She was 96. Annorelli, a homemaker, was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on May 20, 1909. She is survived by her son, Mario Annorelli; daughter, Connie Annese; son-in-law, Nick Annese; daughter-in-law, Dannta Annorelli; and 12 nieces and nephews. James Casey, a longtime resident of Rockaway, died July 30. He was 70.
Casey, a retired proprietor of Shore Car Service, was born in Brooklyn on June 30, 1935. He was a member of St. Francis DeSales Church and served in the U.S. Army between the years 1955-1957.
He is survived by his sons, James and Gerard Casey; daughters, Patricia Casey Bassou and Carolyn Casey Menber; brother, Edward Casey; and grandchildren, Zachary and Caitlin Menber and Yasmine Bassou.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis DeSales Church. Interment was at St. John’s Cemetery.
Herman Lamont Edmonds
Herman Lamont Edmonds, a longtime resident of Rockaway, died July 26. He was 28.
Edmonds, a salesman, was born in Far Rockaway on April 17, 1977. He attended Public School 183 and St. Rose of Lima. He graduated from John Adams High School and went onto Drake’s Business School receiving his Associates Degree in Business Management.
Edmonds was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Adams Edmonds.
He is survived by his father, Herman Edmonds Sr., step-mother, Marie Edmonds; brother, Charles Edmonds; twin sisters, KR and Kyan Edmonds; fraternal sisters, Tonia, Tawanda and Lakisha Etheridge; aunts, Judy Adams, Luella Gunn, Vernell Joyner, Delores Haywood, Judy and Porsche Edmonds; uncles, Clifton, Joseph and Thomas Lee Edmonds; grandfather, Charlie Adams; godmother, Ethel Hampton; special friends, David and Brian; and other family members and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home. A funeral service was celebrated at Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Forest Park Cemetery in Morganville, New Jersey.
Jeremiah T. Fritz
Jeremiah T. Fritz, a former resident of Rockaway, died July 20. He was 77.
Fritz, a retired custodial worker for Chase Manhattan Bank, was born in Brooklyn on May 26, 1928. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gertrude; sons, Dennis, Thomas, James (Kathy), and William; daughters, Eileen Roberts (Frank), Therese Kelly (Michael), and Patricia Cosmai (Mike); grandchildren, Christopher, James and Katie Fritz, Timothy and Caitlin Roberts, Jaclyn, Veronica and Grace Kelly and Matthew and Christopher Cosmai.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Palm Funeral Home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Interment was at Palm Valley View Cemetery.
Michael J. Quinlan
Michael J. Quinlan, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died August 2. He was 57.
Quinlan, a shop stewart for Carpenter Union, was born in Rockaway Beach on February 19, 1948. He served in the National Guard and was a member of St. Camillus Church.
Quinlan was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome M., and Madeline A. Quinlan.
He is survived by sisters, Kathleen and Lynn Quinlan and Patricia O’Connor; brother-in-law, Dennis O’ Connor; niece, Kathleen O’Connor; nephew, Matthew O’Connor; companion, Susan Campbell; and other family members and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. A wake will be held Friday, August 5, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and then again from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Camillus Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 6. A private burial will be held.
