RAA Hosts Exhibit For Summer Kid’s Programs

The Rockaway Artists Alliance recently announced that it will host a combined exhibition of its two major education programs hosted by the organization this summer will be on view on Wednesday, August 10, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The culmination of this year’s camp kidsmART (the sixth consecutive year that the RAA has been running the highly-successful camp) will be a multi-faceted event spread out around the Fort Tilden facilities at the extreme west end of the Rockaway peninsula.

The works of more than 170 local children will be on display in buildings T-149, sTudio 6 and sTudio 7 (all in the Rockaway Art Center complex), along with a DVD presentation in the post theater and live dance on the Moon Stage. This event begins at 12:30 p.m., when the public is invited to attend.

There is no charge for the show.

Simultaneously, an exhibit of excellence by the students from the Queens Council on the Arts “High School to Art School” summer program will be on display in sTudio7.

In past years, each student from this program has entered a highly regarded Art School, and this year should prove no exception to that rule.

This program was generously supported by the NYC dept of Cultural Affairs and The New York Times Foundation.

An official for the organization said that the “Rockaway Artists Alliance was proud to lend their facilities again for this worthwhile course.”

Those interested in further information on this program or upcoming Rockaway Artists Alliance exhibitions and events, should call (718) 474-0861, e-mail rockart116 @aol. com or visit www.rockawayartistsalliance.org.

RAA’s camp kidsmART Exhibit & QCA’s High School to Art School Exhibit takes place at the Rockaway Center for the Arts (RoCA) sTudio 6 and sTudio 7 galleries, and building T-149 located at Fort Tilden.
