APO Injured, Local Arrested In Barrier Accident


A female Auxiliary Police Officer (APO) was injured on Tuesday night as she manned a street barricade at the corner of Beach 116 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard. Police say that at about 8:46 p.m., APO Cathalina Diperro was at a traffic control post when she was hit by a car driven by William J. Swenson, 48, of 105-00 Shore Front Parkway. Diperro was taken to Peninsula General Hospital with injuries to her leg. She reportedly was treated and released by the hospital. Swenson was placed under arrest and taken to the 100 Precinct, where he was given a number of summonses and released.
