Free live entertainment under the stars every Thursday: RAA’s “Summer Moons” program presents a variety of musicians, singers and bands every Thursday evening in August on the “Moon Stage” in RoCA@Fort Tilden. Start time is 7:30 p.m.
August 11: the acapella group Velvet Rose, that you’ve enjoyed at various venues in Rockaway, Phil the rock and roll pianist who’s a regular entertainer at Kennedy’s and the band Gnomen, playing rock and roll, reggae, original songs and more. Make these free Thursday Night Family Events at RoCA a regular habit. That’s August 11, 18 and 25. The “Moon Stage” is located between sTudio 6 and sTudio 7 Galleries. BYOB [bring your own blanket (or chairs)]. All these outdoor concerts are, of course, “weather permitting.”

Wednesday, August 10: the final exhibits for Camp kidsmART and the High School to Art School Program. Come to sTudio 7 anytime in the afternoon or evening to catch both shows. Free admission. Camp kidsmART is the fabulous arts-based summer camp run by RAA every year for the past several years. High School to Art School is the highly successful program RAA does in partnership with the Queens Council on the Arts designed to train students to prepare a portfolio for admission to an art school of their choice.The Rockaway Theatre Company’s production of My Fair Lady is receiving rave reviews. The final two performances are Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and children. Sunday, August 14: RAA’s Second Annual Picnic starting at 1 p.m. at RoCA, near the galleries. Bring food or drink or poetry or a musical instrument or friends or artwork or all of the above.
