Patrick K. Porter, PhD is the founder of the Positive Changes and the largest Hypnotic Center dealing with Mind Over Cancer. Cancer triggers, denial, fear, anxiety, frustrating, nausea, pain and negative feelings.

Through the process of Hypnosis the patient learns to relax and think positively. And, one does not have to believe. If you are not a good subject to be hypnotized, Dr. Porter told my viewers during my interview on WNYX TV the other day, he has a machine to help you and to help with self hypnosis so that you can call on your own body to deal with pain and fear and other negative feelings. Also the anxiety of being a victim of this dreaded disease. They can help people stop smoking, excel in sports and a number of other things. The Center is located in Garden City, L.I., but there have been more recent plans to have them available in Manhattan. Call: 516-794-8888 or 1-877-POSITIVE. Or On the web at: www. positivechanges. com. They are approved by the American Medical Association. Positive healing and be well!

The Working Mother’s Women of Color, Multicultural Conference took place at the New York Sheraton, and I was most impressed with the power those women displayed, so strong no one can stop them. Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole, an anthropologist and educator, was a most dynamic speaker. She was President of Spellman College, the oldest African-American college. She retired in 1997 and is the author of “Lives that Divide, Ties That Bind: Conversations - Straight Talk.”

The theme of the Conference was trust. IBM, Dell, FedEx, Avon and many big corporations sponsored the conference and also hired and trained these women to become business managers, holding executive positions, and contributed to their education whereby they hold Master’s Degrees and beyond. But, you can’t work with people you cannot trust. To keep that trust you have to have conversations among your employees, bring out pros and cons in a more intimate way. That’s how, they predict, you end up with loyal employees. It was a great conference and it was a pleasure to see these multicultural women achieve so much esteem by holding such top positions in the corporate world. Keep forging ahead.

A little bird told me (oh, not such a little bird) that Joan Mahoney of 220 Street hosted a mother/daughter (and a few granddaughters) party on Sat. June 16. All the neighbors were happy to be there. Two of Joan Mahoney ‘s daughters, Kitty and Joan, assisted with the catering. The reuniting of the generations was a reward itself.

At the Surf Club, Jim Brady’s Cabana was filled with those celebrating their 80th birthday party, though Jim Brady wouldn’t admit to 80 and why not? He doesn’t look a day over 60, and he really isn’t eighty. But, one day he hopes to be eighty and then, maybe, the cabana will be filled. Well wishes for him. Seen celebrating were Clare and John Hughes, Peter Danzilo, Peter and Marilyn Maloney, and Doris Hartt. Congratulations to all you made it to eighty. Lets see if you can make it to 100.

Had a great time at Kennedy’s this past Saturday night as a guest of Helen and Peter Danzilo.

There was such a crowd we had to sit in the bar area. It was a lively crowd, indeed. Ran into Maryellen and Jimmy Barnes, who bring much happiness to those who need it and, of course, the whole community. And, there was Michael Salica, whose mom celebrated another birthday. Did she just turn sixty? She wears her age well. She doesn’t look that old. Say a few prayers for her. She had a fall and broke a shoulder. Phillip Salzinger, the singing pianist and entertainer got moving on the dance floor and singing at the bar. It was a fun time. But, you do have to make reservations on Saturday night. The meal was delicious. I had filet of sole and it was yummy and a big portion. Helene raved about her dish, the stuffed shrimp with crabmeat, and Peter’s was delicious, too. It was a fun time!
