NYC Liberty Belles Win US Junior Nationals

The NYC Liberty Belles Basketball Team took first place for the 12u US Junior Nationals, which were held at the Giant Center in Hershey Park, Pennsylvania.

The Belles won the Metropolitan Regionals for the third consecutive year this May.

The Liberty Belles had an outstanding record, entering the championship game with a 6-0 record. In the semi finals, the Belles beat the Springfield Sparks, who were the current US Junior National Champions with a score of 54-23.

The championship game would prove to be a difficult one that would require teamwork and determination from the Belles. The Belles played the NJ Sting, who were still stung from their loss to the Belles at last year’s Nationals.

By the end of the first half, the Sting were ahead of the Belles by ten points. But with the help of their head coach, Mike LoCascio, and the support of their fans, the Belles were able to regain the lead, making 21 out of 26 foul shots as well as a couple of three pointers, winning the game 59-48.

The members of the Liberty Belles team are, #00 Fatita Ramsey, #1 Tara Rock, #3 Samantha LoCascio, #11 Molly McNulty, #15 Meaghan McGoorty, #33 Kathryn Edwards, #34 Marielle Duryea, #40 Sana Hafeez, and #45, Ann Gold Onwude.

They are coached by Michael LoCascio and assisted by Forest Finkelstein.

The NYC Liberty Belles would like to thank their families, friends and neighbors for their help and support on their quest for a Junior National Title. They say “thanks and God Bless.”
