MS 53’s Makeover
MS 53, under the guidance of Principal Claude Monereau, has improved greatly over the past school years. Monereau has implicated new procedures and programs, leading to the students success.
Eighth graders were taking both the Math A and Science regents and each test came back with excellent results. The science program now has an art science lab with cutting edge equipment.
Standardized test scores have also improved in Math and Reading.
Some of the new programs include the Read 180 program, which began in September and was very successful.
MS 53 is marching to greatness, literally, with their first ever Marching Band which participated in the Memorial Day Parade. Several holiday music events were performed with MS 53’s new chorus, band and their dance troupe.
Their Physical Education Department started Basketball Tournaments along with a Double Dutch performance. Students are now expected to run a track course.
The building has been painted and the cameras in the building’s security system have been repaired. MS 53 has more planned for the upcoming school year
