Four Locals Earn Child Care Credentials
Four local women have been awarded Child Care Credentials from the Visiting Nurse Service of New York’s Early Head Start Division.
The four, Marguerite Halmiton of Rockaway Beach, Maria Pinto of Rockaway Beach, Manuela Ramsey of Far Rockaway and Sharmain Balverdy were presented with their credentials after a training course provided by the organization.
A Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential is awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C., which represents the early childhood profession.
According to spokesperson for the organization, CDA is the only major national effort to improve childcare by evaluation and recognizing the skills of individuals providing care. The First Credential was granted 25 years, and now there are 46 states as well as the District of Columbia, which include CDA in their childcare licensing regulations.
The CDA, in order to ease the worries of parents makes sure that each contender for their program is first monitored working with younger children or families by a professional childcare specialist. As well being monitored, the candidates must be able to show their abilities while working with families to help further aid the children’s physical and intellectual capabilities.
