Garrett Takes Reins At Gateway National Park
Billy G. Garrett, a twenty-two year veteran of the National Park Service, has taken on the position of Deputy General Superintendent of Gateway National Recreation Area.
According to a park spokesperson, Garrett, who has served as Gateway’s Jamaica Bay Unit Superintendent, will take responsibility for strategic planning, project management and day-to-day park operation.
Garrett will expand to other areas of the park the many initiatives he championed at Jamaica Bay.
Garrett started off his career with the park service after working as a partner in a private architectural firm that specialized in historic preservation.
From 1998 to 2003 he was the Superintendent of the Jamaica Bay Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area.
