Big Apple Games At FRHS

Far Rockaway High School will once again host the 2005 Big Apple Games, which are open for all boys and girls from 13 to 19 years old. The festivities start on Tuesday, July 5 at 821 Bay 25 Street.

The Far Rockaway High School Teen Recreation Center will have activities such as: swimming, basketball, game room, pool, volleyball, arts and crafts and much more. Licensed professional teachers will supervise the games

The center will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 5:30 to 9 p.m., Monday-Thursday, from July 5-August 18. The evening session will be a high school competition in which events such as basketball, swimming, weight training, volleyball, and track and field.

A new program will be introduced this year as the high school is only one of six sites in the city to host an instructional football camp. This camp is open to all students who are entering the 9 th grade to the 12 th grade from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday.

The instructional camp, which will be overseen by the coaching staff of the Far Rockaway Seahorses, are welcoming students from the peninsula who do not attend the school. Football players from Beach Channel, Poly Prep and John Adams are just a few of the many schools that are invited to attend.
