Find Workers Comp Docs On Web

Workers’ Compensation Board Chairman David P. Wehner announced the unveiling of a new web-based procedure enabling claimants to search for “Board Authorized” health care providers, organized by zip codes and specialties, across the

State. Physicians, chiropractors, podiatrists and psychologists must

be authorized by the Workers’ Compensation Board in order to treat patients in the workers’ compensation system.

“We have conducted a great amount of outreach in the past year and found that an on-line method to identify Board authorized providers

would be helpful,” Chairman Wehner said. “This new system will enable claimants to input a zip code and receive a random list of authorized health care providers in his or her region. This should provide users with a convenient way to seek health care assistance.”

The user-friendly database is organized by medical specialties so

claimants can narrow their search for the type of provider they need.

The system also enables searches for medical provider offices where assistance in languages other than English is available. It is accessible at the Board’s Internet web site at www.wcb.state.ny.us.

“In the past, a claimant or an interested party would need to call the Board during business hours to obtain this kind of information. This

system allows users to access medical provider information at any time during or after regular business hours. It is another way that the Board is becoming more responsive to the public,” Chairman Wehner said.

The Board does not recommend specific providers. Each search conducted will present a different group of results so as to provide each

medical provider with an equal opportunity of appearing in the outcome of a search. All the information available through this new system has been furnished by individual providers.
