Lenihans To Celebrate 50 Years Of Marriage

Ben and Mary Lenihan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 26 at the Beach Club. Among the attendees will be children, John, Margie and Matthew, grandchildren, Thomas, Patrick, Christine, Megan and Matthew, and a host of family and friends.
Ben, born in County Cork, and Mary, born in County Kerry, met not in Ireland, but in the Bronx and married in St. Jerome’s Church in 1955.
Shortly after arriving in the U.S., Ben visited Rockaway in 1948 and determined that one day would raise a family here. He and Mary owned and operated the Blarney Rose on Court Street in Brooklyn for many years and the pub became a favorite site for judges, lawyers and court officers.
The family has lived on Beach 126 Street for the past 38 years and some neighbors refer to the Lenihans as “Mr. and Mrs. Rockaway.”Ben and Mary Lenihan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 26 at the Beach Club.
