  • City Councilman James Sanders, Jr. came bearing gifts when he visited P.S. 42 on June 21. At that time, he informed Principal Riva Madden that he had secured $35,000 for new computers for the school.
  • Sanders and Madden spoke with The Wave after they met in Madden’s office where she was told the good news.

“We will order laptops with a cart to assist in technology,” said Madden.

Sanders explained the timetable for delivery of the computers.

“They should have everything within two months,” Sanders told The Wave. “When the kids come back to school [in September] they will be well-supplied.”

Nether Carter, Title I/Parent Advisory Council (PAC) chair, said that parent leadership went to Sanders asking for his help getting the funding.

The school’s PA and PAC will each receive one computer.

Sanders presented a similar check for new computers to the principal and students of P.S. 105 in May.
