Mosquito Buffer On The Way

Local environmentalist and President of the Friends of Rockaway, Bernie Blum, believes that surface runoff from concrete and asphalt is pouring into the Jamaica Bay. Vegetation buffers, however, protect Jamaica Bay by slowing and metabolizing the chemical pollution (heavy metals, insecticides, etc.). The Friends of Rockaway pioneered the buffering.
