Lawrence Pump Off To Flying Start in Rockaway Little League
The Rockaway Little League Major Girls softball team of Lawrence Pump and Well Corporation has shown themselves to be a team of reckoning as they hold a 6-0 record prior to the Memorial Day Weekend. The “heart”, spirit, perseverance and sportsmanship of the girls on this team is unsurpassed. Not to be omitted is their ballplaying ability, seen as a direct result of their attendance at all practices and games with a willing heart and strong desire to learn.
Two of their six wins were the result of opposition forfeitures, due to insufficient number of players to field; however all of their players, their parents and coaches wanted to play and had a mixed team scrimmage/practice.
The four wins against Doormax, Caiazzo, Beach Club and Walsh as Laurence Pump collectively racked up 58 runs and only allowed 19 runs.
Every player on Laurence team crossed home plate at least twice, to date.
The team has two more scheduled games and three make-ups before the end of the regular season and they are eager.
Coaches Bill Murphy, Anthony Scotto and Jim Hurley are justifiably proud of this team and extend their thanks to the parents of the team for their cooperation and support: not to mention the baked goods, energizing all.
The players: Erin Tacopina, Lauren Houck, Annette Soctto, Mary Ameruso, Frances Amodeo, Kyra Meli, Catherine Murphy, Pauline O’ Shea, Alexa Cantanese, Taylor Conroy, Brittany Lonnborg, Kristen Lonnborg, Judith Wanderer and Rebecca Resner.
