Two PS 114 Students Win Top Honors

Belinda Rosen and Jonathan Caspi, two students at P.S. 114Q were honored by the United Way of New York City, on Saturday, May 21, 2005, at the world-famous Apollo Theater, for their successful entries in the Elementary School Division of the “What Matters To Me” essay contest.  From almost 800 contestants, it is nothing short of amazing to have two winners selected from the same local elementary school.

Belinda, a 5th grade student in Mrs. Langbaum’s class, was awarded the top City-wide Division honors, receiving an $800 prize, while Jonathan, a 4th grader in Ms. Gottdank’s class, won $400 in the Queens Borough-wide Division.

Special recognition was given by the organization to the children’s teachers and the P.S. 114 librarian, Mrs. Manas, for organizing and encouraging their participation in the contest.
