How can we call ourselves compassionate human beings if we did not take one day to recall and remember and be saddened by the fallen heroes of all our American Wars and 9/11? In Breezy Point the residents solemnly remembered all past heroes of all our wars by Mass at St. Edmunds Church, where they listened to the beautiful voice of singing nun, Sr. Beata. Outstanding guitar player and member of the choir, Stephan Leitner, became engaged June 4 to Tara Dark and is moving to Howard Beach, the Breezy Point Bag Pipers, all followed by the laying of wreaths at the Firehouse culminating with coffee, buns and juice with friendly neighborly chatter with Ann Heslin and sister Sr. Beata. It was a glorious day and a glorious weekend packed with partygoers at Kennedy’s where I met a delightful couple from Mill Basin, Margaret and Joe Farino who love Kennedy’s. They shared their many wonderful experiences; most outstanding was their 7 day cruise to Alaska on the MS Ryndam. Bob O’Brien spoke of his golfing with challenging partner Bob Zeleck, who is fighting cancer but on the road to recovery. (We all wish you good health, Bob) My cousin, Caryn Crowley is recuperating from a sudden gall bladder attack which was removed this past week. Speedy recovery to you too, Caryn. Big welcome back from winter Las Vegas home to Helene and Peter Danzilo, who write the Bridge column in the Rockaway Point News and both run the bridge games at St. Edmunds. At the Sugar Bowl got lots of scoops: Jeff Brady, BPSC, D49 shares with Dad, Jim, sisters Carol, Linda and Janet and hubby, Billy Ryan who also reside in Breezy. Gina and Jim McNally of Breezy Point have been married 25 years. Daughter, Dawn just finished first year at the University of Delaware. Winifred Spence loves Breezy and is sad to leave for Idaho. She will always have fond memories. Lynn and Eric Bensaik with daughter Joel have a new home on Doris Lane. Jennifer McHugh of Doris Lane leaves for Engelwood, Florida.. Helen Morgan said Walter Walden is now free of cancer and wishes him continued good health. Helen, of Bedford Place is thrilled with her granddaughter, Joelle and her grandson, Jon Jacoby who just graduated Fordham, U to be a doctor and other grandson, Paul has been accepted at Fordham. Nichi is on her way to Culinary school Birthday party at Harbor Light for Walter Bensaid 74. His son Eric is in love. Louise Farrell will be 100 years in two weeks on Dec. 27. Frank and Maureen’s grandfather, born 1904, will be 101 years old. Michael and Jen Esposito have a new baby, Bridget Mary. Happy Birthday to Don Levy on May 21st. Lt. Pauline Schaffer of 101 Pct. from Far Rockaway originally from Tioga Walk, Breezy Point has the youngest Bag Pipers in America. Brian King placed third in three and under at Fair Hill, Md., Margaret Hyland Lt Police Dept 101 Far Rockaway, originally from Tiaoga became engaged.

Not to be without footwear or beachwear…Donald Ritter has the largest selection of footwear (some with built in bottle openers) at the Breezy Point Surf Shop open to outsiders with mention at the Gate.. His shop is filled with boogie boards, wet suits, UN Shirts, shorts bikinis, you name it. Stop in and say hello to Don and his gal Casey Rerggiero. You are sure to find something of your liking. Donald has recently become manager of Stop and Shop in Oyster Bay..Good luck in this new endeavor,

Thank you so much for all your flattering comments on my appearance. I owe it all to Dr. Kelly Mattone, who administers facial rejuvenation “Invisilift” without invasive, plastic surgery and body sculpture, “Emdermology” that finds your waistline and helps you lose inches without dieting. To top it all, it is a most pleasant way to restore a youthful look.E-mail me for more info at dorothydunne@ yahoo. com.

Don’t know if you have ever heard of the Trevor Project, but it is a foundation to raise money to help young, usually teen age homosexual boys and girls (mostly boys, who are faced with fear and confusion that leads many to commit suicide. There has never been a 24 hour hotline for them to give advice and support until Trevor Project. A benefit was held for them at Crobar at West 28th St, NYC featuring “Totally Funny Whatever 5 Comedy” with Sara Jones. Kate Clinton and Rosie Perez (Queer Eye for Queer Guy) to name a few. A funny, funny show hosted by Charle Bush. They held a live auction and Tony Kushner received The Trevor Hero Award. More info on www.thet revorproject.org

There are award nights and award nights but The Big Apple Awards at the Rainbow Room for the PRSA (Public Relations) was the most entertaining and enjoyable one I have been to so far this year. That is mainly due to the Host, David Price, who shared to podium with Michael Charles from CBS Morning Show. David’s humorous quips broke up the room and gave the audience a warm and comfortable feeling, so much so we hardly noticed the length of the program.. And, especially when we heard the words of honored guest, Mike Wallace, 37years on 60 minutes, who spoke of his cherished and loyal friendship with winner of the Hill Award, Howard Rubenstein, President and CEO of Rubenstein Assn., an outstanding, elegant and ethical man. He made us all think of how important integrity is in both personal and business life. “Draw a line in the sand and don’t s cross it. And, as Socrates said, “Endeavor to be what you aspire to be and be looked upon that way.” Do what is right, be loyal and admirable and correct what is wrong. Immediately…Some of the winners: AICPA who will be seen on my Appetizer of News segment on WNYX TV’s New Yorker 11pm to 1am Mon to Fri.; Sat. and Sun to 7am. Best Bet, GerberFood, Reader’s Digest and General Mills and so many more.

There is a new twist to an old adage since the Viagra warning has been made known. GALS DO MAKE PASSES AT MEN WHO WEAR GLASSES”
