Erin On The Rox

By Erin Baumann

The summer kicked off this year with the usual Memorial Day activities. On Sunday The Mayor’s Committee had a barbeque to raise money for our troops fighting over in Iraq. Then there were two softball games played by the Roxbury Fire Department versus the Rockaway Point Fire Department. Roxbury won both with scores of 8-7, and 6-3. Finally, the annual memorial ceremony at field took place with Father Jack officiating with help from the VFW.

Congratulations to proud parents, Jimmy and Michelle Fox. Their son Desmond James Fox was christened on May 28th at Saint Genevieve’s with a party following at Father Hession Hall. The family includes Grandfather Jim Fox, Grandmother Gerry Egan, Godmother Aunt Patricia McGoorty, and Godfather Uncle Desmond Egan.

Congratulations to Brian Bamann who came in 16 th overall and 2nd in his division (13-19) in the 25th annual 6-mile Buckley’s to Kennedy’s Run on May 25th with a time of 41:00.
