History’s Mysteries Challenge: Round 2

Pictured (right): (front row) Areatha Mulrain, winner, Carolyn Leigh-Carter, VNS Prep teacher, Christopher Diaz, winner (back row) Daniel Reyes, Applebee’s Manager, and Greg Carter, Rockaway Sports Association president/program facilitator.

Once again, the students at VNS Prep had great times learning about their history. The History’s Mysteries Challenge, facilitated by Greg Carter, the president of the Rockaway Sports Association, had two more winners. The weekly educational workshops at VNS Prep continued with a second set of history trivia contests filled with fun and excitement. The adolescents at this innovative alternative high school were inspired by their many accomplishments and successes as they continued to learn about American and world history, geography, government, and more.

Congratulations to Areatha Mulrain and Christopher Diaz. Not only are they the second set winners, but they are also 2005 VNS Prep graduates. Thanks again to Adam Eury, the manager of Five Town’s Applebee’s restaurant for donating two free dinners to the winners.

VNS Prep is an alternative high school class located in the Visiting Nurse Service Early Head Start Center in Rockaway Beach. This program is part of Offsite Educational Services of the NYC Department of Education.
