P.S. 225 Students Raise Money For Charity
The students of the Seaside School Student Council are pictured here holding a check for $1,000. The amount is part of the money that was collected at P.S. 225 for their annual Penny Harvest. The students of the council collected and weighed the bags of coins. After weeks of roundtable discussions with Mrs. Honan, the students decided to send $100 to the Common Cents Organization to help victims in Sudan’s Darfur region. The rest of the money, $900, will go to C.H.I.P.S., a soup kitchen in Brooklyn that also houses homeless pregnant women. The women and children are allowed to stay at the shelter until they can get on their feet.
