PS 114 Welcomes “Principal For A Day’

Belle Harbor School - P.S. 114Q Principal (for a Day) Alan Wolpert sits in “the big chair,” as he checks his “Principal” e-mail account for important messages early on Wednesday morning, April 6th, 2005, as public schools Citywide celebrated the annual Principal for a Day event, in which outstanding officials and civic minded community members take the reigns of local public schools for a day. “Principal” Wolpert, alumnus of P.S. 114Q, recalled the days when The Belle Harbor School campus consisted solely of the “old wing and a large playground,” sans auditorium and gymnasium. Mr. “W” was accompanied throughout his special day by the *real* Principal, Brian R. O’Connell (aka: Mr. “O”), as both Principals were treated to a chorus assembly, a School “walk through,” and (pictured) visits to many of our School’s classrooms. Upon first hand observation of solid teaching and learning, Principal “W” promised students that they would succeed throughout life, provided they develop, and maintain, three ingredients: Solid work habits; an inquisitive mind; and a never ending mission of self improvement.
