Tubridy Wins Grand Prize At Killian Exhibit
Raffle winner Michael Tubridy poses proudly with an original framed print by artist Martha Elliott Killian (r) and with Rockaway Artists Alliance president Geoff Rawling. The grand drawing for the print was held on Sunday May 8 to celebrate the last day of Killian’s exhibition of watercolor, photography and poetry in sTudio 6 at Fort Tilden.
Rawling is also hosting a large show of his own at sTudio 7. In honor of Mothers Day this past Sundays reception centered on the theme of “Mother Hubbard’s Brunch” and featured home made refreshments, as well as acoustic music by versatile singer/guitarist Bernard Smith, “Come Love & Laugh with Your Mother,” an inspirational and fun presentation by speaker Renee Rosenberg, and rousing original poetry reading by Dan Guarino. The exhibition itself presents an extensive selection of Rawlings works which showcase his use of a wide variety of media to create art both humorous and poignant.
The show continues this Sunday at 1 p.m. with “Naked Lunch” with entertainment by The Bayou Blues Band and Drumbalaya. Sunday May 22nd will see “Tea for Two Hundred or So” and Sunday May 29th will answer the question “Guess What’s Coming for Dinner?”
The gallery will then make way for artist Constance Maltese’s large as life portraits of exceptional women, which opens on June 1, and with a reception of entertainment and refreshments from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday June 2.
