Musical Success At P.S. 183

The school has, in the past, graduated students into The Julliard School of Music scholarship program.The school has, in the past, graduated students into The Julliard School of Music scholarship program. Each year, Music Memory’s student learning program has offered a selection of 16 works representing a wide range of musical periods and styles, including orchestral, keyboard, choral, operatic and jazz compositions. Martin Penzer, the school’s music director for the past 38 years, has been credited with the school’s success through teaching a random selection of music.


P.S. 183 brought home the gold by winning gold ribbons and certificates at the Riverside Symphony’s Sixth Annual Music Memory Citywide Competition, held at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. P.S. 183 was one of four first-place winners in the 20 citywide public school competition. Among the winning students, from the third to the sixth grade, are: Breland Archibold, Earl Collins, Shanelle Haynes, Mudassir Muntaz, Ana Solares, Nkozi Stewart, Marc Akins, Stephany Avalos, Joelle Burgess, Jennifer Mendes, Elijah Bynum, Gabriel Freyre and Hector Tabora.
