PS 114 Hosts Read Aloud Day

New York City Councilman Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. fields questions from the audience, in this case, his third grade “constituents” from Dionesia Dimitriou’s class at The Belle Harbor School - P.S. 114Q, during the school’s annual “Read Aloud Day,” hosted by the school Administration, Principal Brian R. O’Connell and Assistant Principal Janet M. Donohue. Dignitaries, local government officials, educational administrators, as well as upper grade students, were invited to first select a book of their choice, then, subsequently, read aloud and discuss excerpts with the children that, in School Librarian Jeanne Manas’ words, “provide an excellent opportunity for us to visualize the characters, the setting, and the plot.” Councilman Addabo concluded his visit by reminding the students that in order to succeed in life, they must “...Define a personal goal, create and implement an action plan for it, and reflect on your accomplishments.”
