New Park Built Right On The Beach
A new nautical theme play unit is quickly being built right on the sand on Beach 103 Street. The unique area, aimed at kids age 5-12, will have a palm-tree spray shower, slides, climbers and other features. Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer secured funding for the $150,000 project. Completion is expected before the beaches open for Memorial Day weekend, according to Gina Masullo, a spokesperson for the Department of Parks and Recreation. The site was chosen because families flock to that area, said Masullo. “It will be a wonderful amenity for families because, for the first time, children will be able to both swim and play [at a play unit] within parents’ eyesight,” she added.
