Man Rapes Girlfriend’s Sister
A Far Rockaway man is accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s teenage sister in two separate incidents inside the Bayswater home where the girl and her family live, according to court records.
Lancelot Verwayne, 42, was arrested last week after the girl, 16, and her family went to the authorities.
The girl, whose name and address was withheld due to the nature of the alleged incidents, told police Verwayne entered her bedroom on April 20 and began kissing her and fondling her breasts. He then pulled off her pants and raped and sodomized her, she said.
Verwayne allegedly approached the girl in the same manner the next day – kissing and fondling her, and pulling her pants down – but stopped short of raping her, according to the girl’s statements.
Both incidents happened at about 7 a.m., the girl said. It was unclear who was home at that time of day.
Court records indicate that the girl’s father had a cell phone conversation with Verwayne more than a week after the alleged sexual assaults. In that conversation, Verwayne accused the girl’s sister – his girlfriend – of being the one behind the allegations. He allegedly threatened to kill his girlfriend for triggering the investigation and subsequent charges.
The names of the girl’s family members were also withheld by law enforcement.
Verwayne, who lives at 332 Beach 12 Street, was arraigned on May 1. He is charged with third-degree rape, third-degree criminal sexual act, and two counts each of endangering the welfare of a child and forcible touching, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown’s office.
Queens Criminal Court Judge Robert Raciti set bail at $50,000. Verwayne is due back in court May 6. His attorney declined to comment for this story.
