Local Seeks Help In Verizon Online Contest

Patricia Lunde taking her Verizon video in Manhattan.Patricia Lunde taking her Verizon video in Manhattan. Long-time Belle Harbor resident. Patricia Lunde spent many years at Ark Drugs in Rockaway Park as a cashier and “announcer.” Her friends say that everyone in the Rockaways will recall hearing her blast the customers with her spur-of-the-moment intercom advertisements.

Lunde and many of the staff signed off for good when Ark Drugs was sold over five years ago, but she isĀ  signnnnnnnnning off” once again. This time Patricia is doing her pitches nationally on the Verizon Wireless website, getvca st.com. Currently working at the Museum of Television and Radio in Manhattan, Patricia submitted a three minute video called “Patricia Picks” in a Verizon promotion, was selected, and went live across the USA last Monday (April 26)! The video is one of fifty Verizon is running through May 31st while visitors vote for their favorites - American Idol style. By the end of summer the most popular producer gets to tape a series of shorts for Verizon Wireless over the next year. Patricia and her friends hope that person is Patricia.

So does this mean Patricia is Hollywood bound? “Not yet,” says Patricia. “Although it was great making Verizon’s first cut, it is still a competition and I need votes to make it to the end.”

How can Rockaway residents help Patricia cross Verizon’s finish line?

According to the rules at the site anyone with a computer and a fast connection can vote. At getvcast.com, click GetFamous and under search, type “patricia.” Once residents see the video, they can vote for it as many times as they want anonymously or as a registered user. Registration gets users a chance to win a Verizon video phone AND $3,000 cash. That’s not bad for lending the former first lady of the Ark Drugs Intercom a helping hand with a vote for her success. A direct link to the video is www.tinyurl.com/c6tej and those who are interested can vote through the end of this month.
