Celebrate Israel’s Anniversary At Ohab Zedek

The community has been invited to celebrate Israel’s anniversary, Yom Haatzmaut, which will take place on Wednesday May 11 at Congregation Ohab Zedek.

The celebration will feature a talk by Dan Kapner, director of community and interfaith relations at the Consulate General of Israel in New York, who also works as a press officer and writer for Consul General Arye Mekel. Kapner formerly worked for the American Joint Distribution Committee in Ethiopia with the Falash Mura community in Gondar and Addis Ababa. He holds an M.A. from the London School of Economics in Political Science where his thesis addressed Syrian support of terrorism.

Also on the program will be the chorus of the Yeshiva of Belle Harbor; Alan Guy, who attended a birthright trip to Israel this past year; Pinchas Klapholtz, sexton; and Rabbi Emeritus Jacob Reiner.

Refreshments will be served by the Ohab Zedek sisterhood.

The temple is located at Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 135 Street.
