Gordon Awarded By Affinity Health
The Executive Director of the Jewish Community Council of the Rockaway Peninsula (JCCRP), Harvey Gordon, was among the eight faith leaders honored at a ceremony on April 13 at the Brooklyn Marriott. The faith leaders were honored for their community service, leadership efforts and guardianship of spiritual values.
The theme of this year’s breakfast, held at the Brooklyn Marriott, was “The Role of Faith Leaders in Economic Development.” Over 300 attendees enjoyed great speeches given by Rev. Dr. James Forbes of the Riverside Church in New York City, Rev. Dr. Calvin Butts of Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, and New York City Comptroller Bill Thompson.
The Affinity Health Plan Annual Faith Leaders Awards Breakfast brings together leaders of various faiths who serve congregations throughout the New York metropolitan area. “This is one of the most significant events we organize each year because it is a very public and high profile manifestation of Affinity’s mission,” said Maura Bluestone, Affinity’s president and CEO. “The event has grown in size and stature to become one of the premier events in the metropolitan area that brings together leaders of many faiths to celebrate their mutual commitment to improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers.”
