A Hammels man and his 62-year-old mother were arrested Tuesday morning when police found drugs, guns and ammunition inside their apartment, police said.

Officers armed with a search warrant recovered five ounces of crack cocaine, a half-pound of marijuana, scales and small plastic envelopes from 81-10 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, apartment 4A, according to court records. The unit was occupied by Tobias K. Blake, 26, and his mother Geraldine Blake.

Police also recovered an automatic handgun with its serial number filed off, a bulletproof vest and more than 200 rounds of ammunition, court records show.

Tobias allegedly tried to ditch one of the handguns by throwing it out of a window but, police said, they spotted him and recovered the weapon from the building’s rooftop landing.

Tobias and Geraldine are charged with numerous counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal weapons possession and criminal possession of marijuana, according to court records. They each face up to 15 years in prison if convicted, according to a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.

At press time, their attorney, Matthew Thomas, had not returned a call for comment.
