Can’t start my column this week without a mention of our beloved Pope John Paul II, who captured the hearts of people all over the world. As I left St. Pat’s Cathedral on Friday after saying a few prayers for the ailing Pope, Ch. 7 eleven o’clock News stopped me as I descended the steps facing Fifth Ave. I want to thank my readers who caught the interview and gave such favorable comments. All Catholics must pray now that the Holy Spirit will ascend upon the Cardinals who will vote for our future Pope and enlighten to choose as great a holy man, as inspirational and influential a man as was Pope Paul II to carry on in his footsteps.. We will all be following the results with great expectation.

Though it may not have seemed like it, other things were going on in the city, at least on Thursday evening at an elegant dinner, at the Pierre Hotel where a live and silent fundraiser auction was conducted for the American Liver Foundation .

The “Spirit of New York Award” was also presented to Richard Colonno, PHD, VP of infectious diseases, research Doctor for Bristol Meyers Squibb, for his outstanding commitment and efforts in his discovery of Entecanie in 1996 in the control of Hepatitis B. Tis was also a culinary delight event with the attendance of Honorary Culinary Chairman, Joe Basteonich for his fine combinations of food, wine and culture. He has the largest Italian Wine selection in America. He opened his first restaurant in Queens in 1968, later launched Becco in NYC, famous for it’s prix fix wine list for $15. He owns a wine estate in Italy and is in the process of writing a book, “Wines of Italy,” collaborating with Rev. Der and journalist, David Lynch. He gives food for thought for his wife, Deanna, his daughter, Olivea, and son, Miles.

A fabulous reception and dinner was given at the UN Delegates Dining Room for the International Amateur Olympic Games in Greece next year. This is a worthwhile cause and a stepping stone for competing athletes in the formal Olympic Games .. I have mentioned to you before, but I will again, that the Delegates Dinning Room is one of the best places to stop and have lunch and dinner when in NYC, Fabulous food. Ad a beautiful view as well.

If you read this column now and then you probably realize I attend many functions where more than ample gourmet delights are served. This does, of course, put on pounds. However, I have solved the problem by endermologie. Endermologie is a revolutionary, new way of sculpturing your body. In fact, Starr Jones of the VIEW TV Show mentioned it and even claimed it works (She sure looks slimmer…., a great deal slimmer). You may not lose pounds,, but who cares as long as you lose inches and get your tiny waist back, your butt lifted and lumps gone and forgotten./.It is sensational ! My procedure is performed by a beautiful young lady who won many beauty awards and appeared recently on the cover of MORE magazine. In fact, most of her medical studies were paid for by the Beauty Contests she won. And, now holds a Medical Degree from Mt. Sinai Hospital .Her name is Kelly Mattone, M.D. and she owns and operates a Medical Spa on Bond St in Great Neck.

A special Endermologie machine massages your body to eliminate the thick stubborn fat that is trapped beneath the layers of skin. And, in a matter of weeks, it simply washes that fat away .It also smoothes away cellulite and heals burns and scars. It is also good for people who suffer from sinus headaches, migraines and similar ailments. The results are phenomenon. Dr. Mattone also gave me invisilift treatments that has rejuvenated my entire facial look that makes it radiate with glowing youthfulness. Unbelievable! It is non invasive, no downtime, no pain, just pleasant experiences and very affordable. And, for some of you may be covered by insurance. If you need more info just contact me by e.-mail or contact Dr. Mattone directly or check out her website: www.aesthetic-association.com.

Happy birthday to Niclole Crowley, who turned 18 on March 31.
