Gertrude Belford Homemaker

  • Gertrude Belford, a lifelong Rockaway Point resident, died on March 30.
  • Belford, who was born in New York City, was a homemaker.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew and son, Peter.

    Belford is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Ryan, Judith Carpenter and Mary Hunter; daughter-in-law, Chickie Belford; and 12 grandchildren.

    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

    Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

    Carole Grogan

    Survived By Large Family

    Carole Grogan, formerly of Brooklyn, died on March 28.

    Carole was the daughter of the late Gladys and Joseph Grogan, of Brooklyn. She was also predeceased by her sister Regina Magee and her niece JackiLynn Durham.

    She resided for many years with her sister and brother-in-law, James and JoAnn Adams of Breezy Point and her niece and nephews Penelope, James Jr. and Fitzjames. Carole is also survived by her sisters and brothers Jessie Ann Sardella, Edward Grogan, Diane Durham, Joseph Grogan and Patricia Parmigiani, as well as 16 nieces and nephews and 26 grandnieces and nephews.

    Visitation for Grogan was held Wednesday at the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday morning at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Rockaway Point. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn.

    Helena Lunn

    Retail Sales Worker

    Helena Lunn, a Rockaway resident for 25 years, died on March 25.

    Lunn was born in Waterville, County Kerry, Ireland. She was a parishioner at St. Camillus, where she was a member of the St. Camillus Senior Citizens group and the Golden Age club. She was also active in the Democratic Party in Rockaway and was a member of the Election Board.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Lunn.

    Lunn is survived by her daughters, Maureen Gerrity, Ann Heelan, Eleanor Lunn, Patricia Woods, Ph.D.; sister, Kathleen Graham; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. A Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas More in Rockaway Point. Interment was at St. Raymond’s in the Bronx.

    Louis Charles Molinari Jr.

    Retired Sanitation Officer

    Louis Charles Molinari Jr, a longtime Rockaway resident, died at North Shore University Hospital at Forest Hills on March 28. He was 81.

    Molinari was born in Far Rockaway on July 27, 1923. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater from 1943-1946. He was retired from his work as an officer for the New York City Department of Sanitation.

    Molinari was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Charles Molinari Sr. and Lillian Beatrice (nee Boyland); and brother, Claude Molinari.

    He is survived by his wife, Margaret Catherine (nee Smith); daughters, Catherine Serrano of Florida and Lillian Booton of New Jersey; sons, Louis C. III of Red Hook, New York, Richard of Brentwood, Long Island, Stephen of Inwood and Daniel of Florida; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Meserole Funeral Home. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, Long Island.

    Alvina Reis

    Housewife

    Alvina Reis, a Broad Channel resident since 1939, died at home on March 27. She was 90.

    Reis, who was born in Manhattan, was a parishioner at St. Virgilius Church. She was a housewife.

    Reis was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Reis.

    She is survived by her sons, John J., William and Ronald Reis; daughter, Mary O’Donnell; grandchildren, Mary A. O’Donnell, Kathryn O’Donnell, John E. Reis; Danielle Newberger, Heather Lemhler and Bethany Reis; and great-grandchildren, Bryant Reis and Reis Lemhler.

    Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hillebrand’s Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Virgilius Church. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery.

    Theresa Elaine Kelly-Webb

    Raised In Rockaway

    Theresa Elaine Kelly-Webb, who many called “Seta,” died on March 14.

    Kelly-Webb was born in Rockaway Beach on November 12, 1953 to Mary Elizabeth Kelly and Thomas Jones. She was raised in Rockaway Beach and attended Far Rockaway High School. She won many trophies playing softball and basketball.

    Kelly-Webb joined the United States Army after graduation and developed skills in communication. She traveled extensively to destinations including Greece, Turkey, Italy and Germany.

    She met and married Sergeant Herman Webb Sr. of Bridgeport Connecticut while in the Army. They had two children.

    Kelly-Webb is survived by her husband, Herman Webb Sr.; children, Herman Jr. and Mary; mother, Mary Kelly; sisters, Diane and Vivian; brothers, Joseph, Daniel, Albert Kelly and Thomas Jones; mother-in-law, Mary Webb; brother and sister-in-law, Belinda and Bernard; special friend, Wanda Page; friend, “Fran”; and other family members and friends.

    The family wished to thank the staff of Rocky Hill Veterans Home/Hospice, where Kelly-Webb was cared for in her last days.

    A funeral was conducted in Connecticut.
