Kid-Filled School Bus In Crash

A mini school bus loaded with children collided last Thursday with a Kia sport utility vehicle at the intersection of Regina Avenue and Grassmere Terrace in Bayswater sending 10 kids and one adult to local hospitals for evaluation, police said. The children, age 3 through 13, were returning home from school in an Elroi Kiddie Cab. The drivers of both vehicles gave conflicting accounts of what happened. Lawana Nixon, the bus company’s owner, said her drivers follow defensive driving procedures and that her company had a clean accident record. The driver of the Kia complained of pain after the accident. None of the children were visibly injured, but a hospital evaluation is protocol, police said.
