Piekarski Promoted To Deputy Inspector
The commanding officer of the 100 Precinct, Paul H. Piekarski, will be promoted Friday to the rank of deputy inspector during a morning ceremony at One Police Plaza, The Wave has learned.
Piekarski’s advancement is a rare achievement; he may be the first to reach the upper echelon of the NYPD while in charge of the 100 Precinct, sources said.
The promotion is also an indication that the department’s higher-ups are impressed with Piekarski’s efforts to keep crime low and improve community relations, said Community Affairs Officer Louis Brust.
Piekarski, who has more than 20 years with the NYPD, took over the command in October of 2003. It was not clear if he would now be transferred.
