Police Net High-Power Guns, Drugs

A Rockaway man was arrested Tuesday after police discovered high-power weapons, ammunition and drugs inside his home, police said.

Gary O’Grady, 47, was arrested at about 6 a.m. when members of the 100 Precinct Anti-Crime Unit served a search warrant at his home at 319 Beach 74 Street.

Inside police discovered a loaded AR-15 assault rifle with several “banana clips,” a 12-gauge shotgun, a 30.30 Winchester rifle and a relatively low-power .22 caliber rifle. Police also seized about 2,500 rounds of ammunition, scopes, a bulletproof vest, and an undisclosed amount of cocaine and marijuana.

Officers Ragab, left, and Bellico, right, lead Gary O’Grady out of the 100 Precinct stationhouse. O’Grady was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana, police said.

O’Grady was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court Tuesday night. Judge Steven Paynter set bail at $100,000. O’Grady is due back in court on April 5.
