RSA Travels For First Annual Friendship Games
What are the 2005 NYC vs. Las Vegas Friendship Games? IT will be approximately 25 to 45 kids, from the ages 10-16 years of age. The youth from Rockaway’s public, parochial, and private schools can tryout and compete in the multi-sport competition.
In the end, those participants chosen from Rockaway will compete against the youth from the Las Vegas Parks Department. As most of Rockaway residents are aware, the Rockaway Sports Association (R.S.A.) will try to lead the way in our youth’s academic and sports development. The RSA have received a warm and welcomed acknowledgment from the Las Vegas Visitors Bureau, Mayor Oscar B. Goodman’s staff and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, better known as UNLV. Our youth (ages 10 -16) will be living and competing right on campus).
As planned, we will be traversing the United States by way of Amtrak, a marvelous two and a half day train trip. Departure is set for Friday, July 1 and they will return on Sunday, July 10. The kids from Rockaway will have a blast.
They will be competing in three different sports: Flag Football (boys/girls team), Lacrosse, and Tennis. As the weeks go along, the readers get to know the participants and how they made their perspective teams. There is a process to go on this fantastic trip from fundraising, to actually trying out for each team.
Starting in April, the players must display to our staff appropriate academic and community standards. For those parents and/or youth that might be interested in further information regarding this event go to the RSA web site at www.rockawaysports.com or email email@example.com to learn more.
