Sorrentino Hosts March Madness

The Sorrentino Recreational Center/ P.A.L first annual 2005 “In The House” Basketball Tournament will host the semifinals of this exciting tournament.

The 12 and under semifinals on Saturday at 3:30 will have Sorrentino A taking on Sorrentino B.

The winner will advance to the championship against #1 seed Redfern.

The consolation game at 2:30 will be Hammels vs. Reverend Mason p.m.

The 11-13 co-ed division regular season will start today. Sorrentino A vs. Sorrentino B will be at 6:30 p.m. and Sorentino C vs. RDRC Beacon will be at 7:30 p.m. The winner of each division will advance to the citywide playoffs.

The Sorrentino Center will host the N.Y.C. Teens At Parks/City of N.Y. Parks and Recreation 19 and under tournament starting on Tuesday.

The games will take place every Tuesday and Wednesday starting at

7 p.m.

Last Tuesday, the tournament started with Team Heat (head coach Issac Parsee and Christopher Davis) beating Team Grimey (head coach Stan Brown and Robert Lindo), 66-54. Sorrentino All Stars (head coachChet King) defeated Team RDRC Beacon (head coach Keith Glenn and Twon Carr) 74-63.

Last Wednesday Team Grimey beat Team RDRC 76-60. Team Heat handily beat the All-Stars 84-62. St. John’s Boys Home (head coach Glenn Thompkins), representing the Sorrentino Center, easily routed the Roy Wilkins Center Marksmen 44-18.

The Sorrentino Center, at 18-48 Cornaga Avenue, will hold a baseball clinic for boys and girls ages 12 and under on April 16. The Center will also feature a soccer tournament that starts on March 10.
