St. Camillus Volleyball Team Not Short In Spirit

By Michelle Romano

St. Camillus vs. Our Lady of the Snows on Saturday, February 12, certainly did not look like your average volleyball game. The St. Camillus girls’ novice volleyball team played remarkably well that morning considering only five girls were present.

Usually, a volleyball team uses six players on the court during a game; however, the girls quickly learned to adapt to this new line-up.Although the girls were lacking in an extra player, they made up for it in enthusiasm and in team spirit. They played hard for all three, extremely close matches and managed to claim one victory for themselves. The girls were aggressive and were in constant motion; hardly any of the balls hit the floor. Everyone got their kneepads a little dirty. The service Saturday morning was the best it has been this season. Thanks to Jeanie and Marissa for their consistent cannon arms and congratulations to Demi and Teiddyne for scoring many vital service points!

Not only did their excellent progress in skills assist in the well-played game Saturday morning, but the girls’ optimistic attitudes is what really accounted for their success. No intimidation due to the player shortage was displayed at the beginning of each match.  Instead, the girls were excited to get in there and put up quite a fight for their opponents!

They are proof that a winning attitude will account for success.

Congratulations again to Demi, Teiddyne, Marissa, Jeanie and Mary for their greatly appreciated efforts Saturday!
