A Memory That Will Not Be Diminished With Time

Next week marks the fourth anniversary of the death of Wave publisher Leon Locke. Though this paper has changed under the stewardship of his wife, Susan, his dedication to the truth and to community journalism live on in each issue of The Wave. On this anniversary, as on every other, we remember Leon and the image that remains in the memories of locals: Leon sitting in the window of The Wave building, watching local life passing by, deciding how to report the facts and foibles of Rockaway. He is still missed by us all today, but Leon remains our guiding spirit and that will never die.
