Rockaway Area MapGuide To Be Released
Councilman James Sanders, Jr., The Rockaway Chamber of Commerce, The Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation and Margert Community Corporation have joined forces to help promote participation and coordinate distribution of a “colorful guide to businesses, services and attractions in the area” known as the 2005 Rockaway Area MapGuide. The MapGuide brochure showcases participating business, community groups and attractions with a user-friendly map, advertisements and directory. The project is being coordinated and published by American Patriots Publishing, Inc., and will include an initial printing of 75,000 copies.
“This map is an important addition to promoting the Rockaways and the many businesses in our community,” said Sanders. “Most importantly, as the face of the Rockaway’s continues to change, this gives us the opportunity to showcase the diversity surrounding the business district, and the economic strength within that diversity.”
Joanie Omeste, executive director of The Chamber of Commerce of the Rockaways, Inc., one of the lead agencies in the effort, adds: “It’s an excellent way to get your brand recognized and provide useful information to potential customers.”
Participating business and organization will receive free distribution of the MapGuide, which will also be stocked throughout the greater region at visitor centers and points of interest.
According to Joseph G. Barden, executive director of the Margert Community Corporation, “new homeowners, tenants and visitors to the Rockaways can use the guide as a tool to go places, do things, and spend money at restaurants, shops and other commercial concerns. We urge area businesses and organization to participate in the project.”
A 2005 Rockaway Area MagGuide kickoff breakfast for business persons and the community well be hosted by American Patriots Publishing on February 25 at 10 a.m. at The Beach Club on Beach 116 Street. Councilman Sanders will be featured as the key note speaker. Anyone interested in participating in the MapGuide should call 718-233-2901 for more information.
